PARKWATER NEIGHBORHOOD PARK
The Parkwater area near the Felt's Field
airport has a new park thanks to the Chief Garry Park Steering Committee, which allocated
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to this project. Members of the Committee
worked with several City of Spokane departments throughout the project phases: property
selection; park design, including, plantings, playground equipment and other features; and
park naming. Parkwater Park Neighborhood Park is a great example of how federal CDBG funds
improve the quality of life in Spokane's program eligible areas (based on U.S. Census data
showing areas of low/moderate income).
Other Community Development Block Grant funded projects and
programs of the Chief Garry Park Steering Committee:
- Picnic shelter at Chief Garry Park
- Rehabilitation of owner-occupied single family housing
- Sidewalk reconstruction and new construction
- Funding assistance to low and moderate income property
owners to pay assessments for street improvement projects
- Public service programs to benefit Chief Garry Park
residents
Attend Chief Garry Park's monthly
meetings:
3rd Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
