MID-CITY CONCERNS SENIOR CENTER

In 1976, recognizing the needs of their neighbors of low and moderate incomes in the Downtown Spokane, Downtown residents formed a steering committee to participate in City’s Community Development Program. The Steering Committee’s main goal, as stated in its first Neighborhood Report, was the rehabilitation of a downtown building to be used for low-cost housing and for a center that would provide public services.

Since that time the Downtown Steering Committee has recommended numerous projects and programs for the use of $1,412,427 in Community Development Block Grant funds, including:

  • Rehabilitation of existing buildings to provide and improve housing for low income residents
  • Support for agencies that provide services for Downtown’s low income population.

Attend Downtown Community Development Neighborhood monthly meetings:

First Tuesday, 1:30 p.m.
