SOUTHEAST DAYCARE BUILDING IMPROVEMENT

The Southeast Daycare Center provides care on a sliding-fee scale for parents with low and moderate incomes. When the center needed to expand its facility, the East Central Steering Committee elected to support this project using its neighborhood allocation of Community Development Block Grant funds.

Other recent accomplishments, ongoing programs, and soon-to-be constructed projects of this Steering Committee:

  • East Central Summer Youth Employment Program
  • Martin Luther King Center Summer Youth Academy
  • Project Joy senior program
  • Retired and Senior Volunteer Program
  • Rehabilitation of single family houses for low-income owner occupants
  • Liberty and Grant park improvements
  • Sidewalk wheelchair ramps
  • Energy-saving entryway for a medical clinic serving low-income persons
