ACCESSIBLE RAMP FOR THE
PEACEFUL VALLEY COMMUNITY CENTER
When assessing the needs and priorities of their Peaceful
Valley Neighborhood, the Steering Committee members worked hard to get input from a large
number of their neighbors. The new safer and more accessible ramp for the entrance to the
community center has been built because of the Steering Committees desire to use
Community Development Block Grant funds for eligible projects supported by Peaceful Valley
residents.
The Peaceful Valley Steering Committee has used CDBG funds
to accomplish many other projects, including:
- Peaceful Valley Community Center public service support
- Rehabilitation of single family houses for low-income owner
occupants
- The installation of a natural gas line into Peaceful Valley,
with financial assistance for the income-eligible homeowners who wanted hookups to the new
system. This CDBG eligible project improved the quality of life for low income homeowners
and helped alleviate poor air quality conditions caused by wood heating.
